I was thinking about removing my AC and power steering. I never use the AC in the first place, and not having power steering i could probably get used to. Would they even be worth removing? Does anybody know the average hp gain, or 1/4 differences?

your a/c uses little to know hp when it is off, it functions like an idler pulley
your p/s does use some hp, more so when the pump is actually pumping (turning the wheel)
slight hp increase if you remove them as well as a little weight loss, which is not a bad thing either

You will lose around 40 lbs if that's important to you. Also, the AC condensor sits in front of the radiator, and removing the condensor would allow more air to reach the radiator.

These are the reasons that I got rid of mine, plus it gets rid of some clutter under the hood.

Not worth it, unless you are extremely modded to the max and it's the last thing that you have left to do. Like previously stated, if it's you're daily driver don't bother, especially if you live in a hot place and have weak arms. :)

There are better ways to get power without sacrificing comfort.

Keep the power steering if you plan on turning. It is absolutely not worth it. The horsepower you would gain is very very small. Like stated above, it is more less an idler until it has a load when you are turning. Besides, vehicles that come equipped with rack and pinion are EXTREMELY hard to turn in comparison to a vehicle that never had it in the first place. Trust me. I have two non power steering cars. If you want to try it, just kill the engine about 40 and take a corner. :sneaky:

As far as the a/c, it wouldn't be a bad idea if its useless to you. Dead weight.

Driving without power steering isn't that bad. You get used to it after a day or two, then you don't even notice it.

Alright, thanks for the info guys. I wont go out of my way to remove either one, but this coming winter i have plans to completely remove/redo my engine and tranny. Once everything is out, and it won't be too much of a hassle i will probably at least move my AC beings how it is dead wait, and completely useless to me. Ill have the think about the power steering though:confused:
