so i just purchased a head from someone with 272's and 3g lifters. if i just put this on my basically stock car will it need to be tuned to this new head or no? this question may be better if put in the tuning section not sure. Please only answer if you absolutely know the answer because i've just been getting a lot of bad feedback lately. Thanks!

You will tune for the bigger cams!

Does it have port work done to it?

no sir. i kinda want it ported to match my manifold though... how much does that usually run?

I have no clue what port work runs! Every shop is different, so you will have to shop around.

Or you could just port it yourself too :sneaky: Just don't go in too deep

If you have no experience porting, starting off by porting a head is not a great idea. Aluminum is soft, and a slip or short period of inattentiveness can cause some serious issues. If you want to do it yourself, I would suggest trying to port your O2 sensor housing or Exhaust manifold collector to get a feel for it, but bear in mind that those are made of much harder material than the head. If the head is off the car now it's a great time to shop around and see what shops want for a simple port-match, it shouldn't be all that much.

there is a reputable shop in greeley colorado called greeley automotive machine. the guys name is bruce yaki and he only charges like 100-150 to do port match work. give him a call. i would reccommend him to everyone.
