Passenger door locked inside and out

Hey guys. I got a problem with my passenger door. Before, I couldn't get it to lock which was a huge problem just because I didn't want my car to get stolen when I would park by school. One day, my bro was able to help me finally get my door locked. The problem was, he got it to lock but we never got it to unlock. Now, my passenger side door is locked from inside and out. When I pull the handle from outside nothing happens and the handle pulls pretty easily now. Almost feels loose or something. I would try taking the door panels off but that's not possible since the door can't even open! So now I'm totally stuck. The passenger side window wouldn't even open but just yesterday I finally got it to and idk how.. Anyways, does anyone have any solutions to this problem? It sucks because it's a pain in the a$$ to give people rides . I got some pictures of the door handle panel taken off that exposes two rods which are basically the only things I have access to. Hopefully something can be done. Also, I can hear the door unlock perfectly fine so I know it's unlocked when I unlock it. I think the problem is in the handles. Sorry for the essay by the way guys. This has just REALLY been buggin' me!

Head out to a yard and pull off another door handle assembly from a busted up DSM out there.

Be like new and cost pennies..

If it won't un-lock from the inside than try with the key from the outside.

Can you take the Philips screw out and pull the handle out enough to unclip the rods? or is there more holding it in?

I don't want to head out to a yard and get a new assembly if I know this one can be fixed (which I do not know as of now). Byranwheat, using the key does nothing. It unlocks just fine cause I can hear it, I think it's in the handles where the problem might be. Kurptk, I did take the screw out and it really didn't do anything =( I'm sure there's more holding it in.

The handles connect to the latch separately. They each have separate rods or the lock and handle. If one is broken than the other should work fine.

Yeah I noticed that when I took off the door handle panel. My question is if there's anything I can do with what I have access to right now to get the door to actually open. Cause I can see the two rods but barely.

If you can't get it open than you will have to rip the door panel apart to get in there. It still doesn't make any sense that the outside lock and handle won't work i the inside is not attached. You could actually have an issue with the latch itself.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that =( idk how I would get the door panels off if I can't even open the door. The outside lock will work, just the handle wont.
