Help! Car door Lock (passenger)

Hello, after recently having work on my car at a garage, it was broken into by a thief to try to steal my audio system. He was unsuccessful, but in the process he took a baseball bat, shattered the passenger side window, and also missed and left a huge ding in the door. Now the shop paid to put back the window, but when i took it home today i tried to lock it and the passenger side door makes the noise, goes to lock but jams then goes back. I took off the door panel and theres a huge stretch of metal rod that seems to not go all the way into lock position? Does anyone know what i should do before taking it back to the shop?

The rod is probably being restricted by the dent in the door. You may have to get the dent fixed
before you can lock the door normally. Can you lock it by hand at least?

Also broken glass gets into the locking mechanism and jams it. I don't know how to fix it, but can guarantee it stops it from locking. I drive an avenger and both sides have had broken windows and they both worked fine before being busted. Now they both don't lock right.

the dent shouldn't be a problem. The rod is on the other side. Check if the rod came off the clip. Can you still lock it by hand?
