pass side axle removal

Ok I'm in the process of pulling the engine. I have the pass side axle freed from the hub but I can't seem to pry it from the tranny. I have removed a 5 bolt brace from the bottom of the car to gain easier access to the axle but as hard as I pry I can't get it loose. Is this normally this difficult or am I missing something?

Ok I got it. I put a large screwdriver in between the axle and the tranny. then I lightly tapped it w/ a 5lb sledge and it popped right out. I hope this might save someone a few frustrating minutes.
