ok so i have a 96 420a already boosted but it was poorly put together in my opinion so i want to redo most of it as of all i know its a stock 420a turbo'd. Dont know what size turbo because the numbers are welded off??? i want to acheive as for now the 350 mark. I have 2,000 to start off with. What should i start with in order to be able to hit this im terrible at ordering the wrong stuff first and wasting money on stuff not needed. Any help would be awsome guys thanks

I would start off by buying a used 420a motor off craigslist or somewhere (if its your dd) thats about $100-$200, Then buy a bottom end package. That's a place to start. You will be able to boost more than 8lbs if you build the block.

how much does a bottom end kit go for? any kit you guys recommend? and msns?

There are some used 8.8:1 pistons and rods on neons.org right now for cheap (I think $550). Only <200 miles.

Getting the block worked will probably run you another $500 or so (maybe not that high depending on what you have done). APR head bolts = $130. Bearings, gaskets, misc, add another $500. If you shop around you can probably find all of this stuff cheaper. I have $590 into a set of rods and pistons w/rings that are brand new from just waiting for the right moment when someone is selling their stuff cheap.

...a remanufactured crankshaft is up to you though if you want to buy an crankshaft.

I'd just find a stock crankshaft in good shape and get it polished. Remanufactured crankshafts are generally weaker than stock crankshafts.

I had my block hot tanked, bored and honed, my crankshaft polished and the whole rotating assembly balanced for around $200.

ok what kind of pistons and rings should i get? because i really want to push more than 8 psi thinking about the je pistons and eagle rods the apr head studs and a fuel rail from what i read i'll need one and fimc piping thnking about doing 2.3 or 3in just gotta find a kit or something i guess and most likely get a decent turbo size as for the crankshaft i'llget it polished at some shop and then i take it im gonna need better axles and clutch and tranny to put all this to the ground what do you guys recommend? taking the block tomorrow and as for the head ### should i do? thankssss
