I need to have sum input on the cause and fix for partial throttle compressor surge. (this is not BOV flutter or such It is true surge) . Turbo is a gt35r Garrett, fully built engine, auto trans. If you need more specific details just ask.

Here is what happens. If you drive easily (no or slight boost) the car runs fine. If you run WOT it runs fine. But if you try to roll into it (partial throttle) it picks up boost and then surges and I have to back off. I had thought that the turbo was spooling up so quickly that the pressure was building up in front of the throttle body , so I moved my waste-gate boost/vac source to the charge pipe just before the throttle body. This did not seam to help.

The car was tuned in at a professional shop and they could not fix this problem. They upgraded to a anti surge compressor housing. They upgraded to a Tial 50mm BOV first with the correct stiffness spring then with the lightest spring they had. They upgraded my waste-gate to a precision turbo and engine large v-band style(unsure the size) I am unsure of what else to check. :banghead: Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try replacing the compressor housing seal. My buddys went bad on his 35r and he was having this same problem.

Just to make sure, you do NOT have the BOV and wastegate on the same source/nipple/line correct?

I'm in the same boat as you, I haven't been able to resolve it...just started trying to avoid it.

Evo Chris --- really ya think so? I would a thought my boys would a cheeked this when replacing my front cover (from standard to a anti-surge 35r cover) but I'm open to all options ----how do i check out if i need to replace the housing o-ring?

If your all out of options id check this. Me and my buddy had the same problem. We tried the highest spring in the bov, boost leak tests, replaced throttle body shaft seals, pretty much everything. Then we talked to our tuner and he told us to check the o ring in the compressor housing. We checked it and the previous owner of the turbo (we bought it used;gt3582r) must have decided to be cheap and not buy a replacement ring. He just use silicone which blew out and caused our surge. You just need to take the compessor housing off. A couple of bolts and it comes right off. ATPTurbo should have them handy if this is the problem.
