Whats up folks. Havin a bit of trouble as of late. Gotta 92 awd 2.5
turbo back, buschur i/c pipe, boost gauge, xbc @10psi. My buddy just
sold me his ancient Extreme D.I.S. intake w/ extreme filter. This
thing is very weird, but it looks and sounds great. It's like a
sheetmetal aircan with a huge filter element on it. Anyways, I just
installed that and an XBC. Just reset my battery for my fuel trims
and went out to datalog. After driving from my home in Owings Mills
to school (Towson U) all of my fuel trims are maxed.. Furthermore,
any kind of boost sets of my knock alarm on my datalogger (5+ counts
of knock) I had thought the mas inside the sheetmetal can might have
been bad, but I swapped it out with a known working one. Reset trims
and everything, still +139% across the board, and tons of knock even
at partial throttle. Had about 29 counts of knock @ 50% throttle
with 8psi on the needle, yikes.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have an afc sittin right here about to
go in. I have no tested the intake to check for leaks, but I'm
thinking if it was a boost leak wouldn't it cause a rich condition
instead of an extremely lean one?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I know you posted this forever ago, but is the filter you installed pretty oily? If so, it's possible it may have coated the small wires in both MAFs with oil, causing them to meter less air than actual.

Actually, I just swapped out that sheetcan metal intake, and apparently it solved myproblems. My knock problem was unrelated, turns out my buschur exhaust was banging against my drive shaft and causing all sorts of phantom knock...

I can't understand why buschur only used 4 hangers on their entire turbo back exhaust, the thing hangs so low and so loose. I'm gonna have to have some more hangers welded in so the thing sits snugly where its supposed to be. Thanks though.

You ever figure a way to stop that Buschur Exhaust from banging against your driveshaft? Mine does that at idle and it gets very annoying. :talon:

Actually I plan on doing it this weekend. I figure I'll either borrow my buddies mig welder and weld on some extra hagners, or try to rig up some way to wrap some exhaust strapping around the pipes and just have it pulled to the drivers side away from the drive shaft. When I shift into gears and give it a bunch of throttle it'll constantly bang up agaisnt the shaft and set off my knock sensors, having my timing pulled like a mofo!
