I have been having this part throttle knock problem in my dsm that only appeared after installing some hks272 cams. A quick lil background on the car is a built buschur 8.5 comp shortblock. 20g turbo running 23psi of boost. The fuel system is a rewired 225hp pump, -6an hose fed all the way to the pump in the tank, 680cc injectors and a spoolin up afpr. I have a stock chip in the car and use an afc to tune with. This car was running perfect prior to the cam install. however I did notice that when in college i didn't have the right tools to tighten the knock sensor. I did so while I was doing the cam install. The sensor has maybe 2000 miles on it and was not dangling in there but not tight. It looks like it is in great shape still. I do not suspect it is bad cause right now on full throttle pulls I have no knock to redline. It feels very fast and smooth except at part throttle I can literally feel the timing being pulled. That is what throws me off is only in part throttle. Car has been boost leak checked multiple times now and nothing. give me some ideas guys and thanks in advance.

Wanted to add that fuel trim low is at 100%. I'm dumbfounded?????????

Since your tuning with an S-AFC what does your timing look like on the pocket logger and your AFR's look like when your going into part throttle? If the Conquest timing maps look anything like a 1g's I wouldn't be surprised if that was actual knock your seeing, its just too bad you can't pull timing a bit since you can't really add more fuel...

It is on a dsm ecu. I will defiantly look at that today and get back on tonight and let you know. If i cant figure it out i will probably just tune with a jakal and do the mods to run that. Pushed this afc tuning to the limit maybe?

Ok I finally got some more time to do some logging. So the car is running around 34deg of timing before it goes into knock and starts pulling timing. It runs between 36-39deg of timing just cruising. I can get timing to drop by throttle modulation and all is good. I tried retarding the cam angle sensor just about all the way. It still ran the same or close to the same timing values. I then I advanced it a little and it was clearer down low but still the same problem. Could spark plugs have any similar effect? I would like to fix this as easily as possible and am still a little concerned about going with the ostrich converter and stuff. Might just blend some cam2 in there and see how she likes it. Let me know what you think.
