Part out Questions

Hey guys, I bought a 95 talon tsi FWD automatic a few weeks ago. The engine had a spun bearing and jumped timing damaging the head as well. I was going to work on it but I decided to just wait for something better (AWD manual). I paid $500 for the car and $150 for a 45 mile tow.

The body is in good shape minus a dent in the drivers fender and the front bumper has alot of weird scratches. Interior is perfect. Car only has a catback exhaust, rai, and ebay bov. Also, it does have decent 17" rims. They should be worth about $200 with tires.

My question is this: Do you think I would be able to make more money selling it for like $800 and making $150 or parting it out? If I sell it I get the money on the spot, parting it out I have to wait for awhile and do the work of taking everything apart.

How much money do people really make from parting out an entire car?

Also, when people part out the cars(body, engine, interior), what do they do with the frame?

Part it out!!! I had a friend who had a blown motor decided to part the car out and made almost 2500 doing it. Gotta remember interior parts gauges cluster wiring, fenders the list goes on Part it out.

Usually what happens when people part out the whole car, is when there are no parts left, they have the frame crushed. At most places (atleast around here), if you take the car to them, they will pay you for the weight of the metal. If you're in a super huge hurry to get your money back, I'd part it out. Then you're helping out people who need hard to find parts as well
