part swapping questions

I was at the junk yard today with a buddy to find a new dash for his cavalier and low and behold i see an eagle talon sitting by the fence. its a 1g, not sure of the yea but it was in pretty good shape. I pop the hood and find a N/T 4g63 and was ready to pull some parts but wanted some confirmation first.

will the n/t valve cover fit directly on? this one was spotless and i just wanted to make sure.

will the timing covers be a direct fit? this had all 3 covers that i wanted.

where is the evap purge solenoid on these? will a 1g solenoid work for a 2g?

my car is a 97 gs-t. all stock i'd like to know what else i could possibly pick and use in my car.

As far as the timing covers go, those will not fit. the 1g's and 2g's are a bit different. I think the valve covers are the same, I just am not 100% on it.

The valve cover should fit fine.

As for the timing covers. I know for a fact a 1g 6 bolt timing cover will not fit a 7 bolt.

Seeing how you have a 2g you have a 7 bolt.

I am not sure if 1g 7 bolt timing covers are the same as 2g timing covers. I don't think they are but it is possible.

hmm, is there any easy way to check with the hood open if it's a 6bolt or 7bolt? jacking it up isn't an option it's just a frame sitting on the ground, no wheels. if it's a 6bolt i might pull it and build it.

Yes the valve cover will fit. The timing belt cover WILL fit but you have to do some trimming, it hits on the fuel line. (this was done with a 1g fuel rain in a 2g head).

Only way you're going to tell if it's a 6bolt is pulling the tranny. If you can find a year on it, the 1990-1992 were six bolts, and 1992-1994 were 7 bolts. The first half of the 1992 year were 6 bolt, last half 7 bolt.

I don't believe 1gs have one, unless it's called something else?

I took out all of my emissions and I can't remember anything even looking similar to it (I googled the image).
