just recently my engine started knocking BAD! found out a rod broke off in there.
so ive been doing some looking around and i was wondering...
is it possible to swap a 2000 rs engine and tranny in to my 95 gs?
and my second question is..
if i went and bought this 95 rs with a bad tranny is it possible to use my tranny and clutch in it?
thanks..
i have a 1995 gs non turbo btw..

. To answer your first question, it IS possible to swap the 2000 Eclipse RS engine (its the 2.4 SOHC 4 cylinder if I remember right) into your car. However, to do this you'd have to do some major rewiring, also you would have to cut/weld/fabricate some engine mounts to make it work. It's really too much trouble and more expensive than its worth. You could find a 95 (or any 2g) RS and put your transmission in it. The GS and RS are the same powertrain wise. Its just the brakes, suspension, the color of some body pieces, options, ect. that were different. The RS is kind of a downgrade from the GS tho. See if you can find a used 420a engine or a wrecked GS/RS with a good engine. Or you could try to rebuild yours if its salvageable. Good luck either way tho.
