I'm not new to DSMs but i am new to the logging concept. I just bought my first logger PALM IIIc color screen with MMcd software. Im using it on my 90 gsx, the car doesnt run currently i am waiting for a good day to do the timing job. My question is when i plug the palm into the car and turn the car to the on position should the palm read anything or will it say that it ackknoweldges being hooked up to the car? I bought this thing used and i am basically just trying to figure out if it works properly. Thanks for any replies.

I have the same logging setup that you do, and to tell you the truth the only things you can read while the engine is not running is the battery voltage, baro, air temp, and thats about it

Thats fine I'm just trying to find out if my cable works properly, is there anything you need to do first time you use it or do you just turn everything on and it starts by itself?
Start a new log, check monitor, unchecked pause. If pause stays unchecked, the palm is communicating with the ECU and you're good to go. If it pauses itself, check your wiring.

also, if you log the battery and it reads at 12 volts that means your ecu and palm are communicating. or whatever volt it should be at.

Ok I did all that tried to log battery and BAR it cycles through them in the bottom left corner like its working but when you pause it, then choose to review it nothing is there. No numbers no graphs. So im not really sure whats up with it. Anyone have any ideas or can tell me what if anything is wrong?

That's because you didn't check the log box to the left of the pause box therefore you were just monitoring, not logging.

To display the values, you have to high light the area which displays the value up on top , same way you choose what to log.

there was a site called virtual datalogger or something, i used it when i first got my datalogger, anyone still got the link to that?
