So I was told that if you prep right you can actually paint your bumper with gloss black engine enamel ... Now I am looking for a cheap, yet good looking way to paint my bumper since I'm jobless and I don't have a paint gun at the moment . How well would this turn out ?

ive done this my self lots of times. BUT for some reason the gloss black never works for me. that can is the one that advance sells the 500 degree paint. ive found auto zone sells a different brand and that worked for me. now ive been spray painting for a long time and i know all the tricks so you need to be good at it. if not you will see the spray lines. if you want wait till i paint mine and ill show you what it will look like i should have my bumper in Monday or Tuesday..... and yes you need to sand the hell out of that bumper

well the bumper is already primered but will have to be re primered because I crackedi tnad I'm going to repair it unless I buy a new oem bumper off a guy I know ... I want to but he hasn't gotten back to me so I might be stuck fixing and painting this one

ive herd good things about that paint... the ? is how long dose is last?

After I sanded, primed, sanded, and a few layers of paint its my driver side door its holding up well with the high gloss. I am only a few months in it no cracks or peel ups. I thought about doing the whole car with it! DONT attempt to clear it, it made it look like garbage! And I re-done it. I took the old handle up to home depot to match colors. $6 later it was a done deal.

well my issue is ... I have like 70 bucks ot drop on a bumper .LOL

i feel ya i don't have lots of $$$$$ thats y im painting it my self LOL . and do not clear it i tryed it and i was pissed it cracked all over. being cheap is ok you just need to try and try till you get it :thumb: i got so good at spray painting i did a civic red and it came out better the the factory. my friends thought i got another car LOL

got a process for me ? like what grit and what not to go with and process?

if u got deep gaps and scratches you need to get like 500 then work your way up to 2000 then i like to prime it when its dry i spray black lightly. then wet sand it with 2000 till all the black is gone and you think its smooth. clean and let it dry and look and see if u see any bad spots. and remember when you paint make sure you go across evenly. i like to get all the edges first then spray everything. get 2 or 3 cans and have them ready you dont want to stop in the middle of it.

Well I don't have the bumper I'm buying it . It's already primered the business I'm buying it form said so I'll snap some when I get it

You also couldve painted it with dupli color perfect match. I painted my whole car with it. And it dosnt look bad at all. you just have to fill in the paint the same volume through out the car. Then Clear out, my down fall i did all of mine out side:banghead:
