Since Im rebuilding the 6 bolt I have, I figured mine as well make everything look nice too. I got some nice looking blue metalic paint for the valve cover and my question is> Is 500 degree paint good enough to take the heat from the valve cover or will it burn off?

any paint will work, your valve cover will not recieve enogh heat to cause any paint issues.

If you're getting more than 500°F on the valve cover -which would mean that and more for the oil- you'll have lots more to worry about than flaking paint.

It should do fine on there. It's not enough for the heat shield, of course.

I have used low temp paints before and they stick. it's all in how you prep the surface first.

Rule #1 - Clean the cover very well
Rule #2 - Go back to rule #1 and re-do it cause you suck
Rule #3 - Go back to rule #2, I told you that you suck and you do.
Rule #4 - If that is how you clean yourself in the shower, were in trouble back to rule #1

Then paint it with just barely enough paint that it will cover everything giving you your color. If you want to clear coat (I would not) then do a very light coat. If you put a lot of paint on it, or don't have the surface REALLY REALLY clean then it's gonna bubble and look like crapola.

The Duplicolor paints that come up really neat colors like hot cherry red etc work really well, however you need to give it an ultra thin coating and cure it for 24 hrs first on a super clean surface.

If it isn't clean, and I mean "your girlfriend is comin over to get busy your ass better be clean, she's bringing a friend" clean then your screwed (or not as it may be)

BWHAHHAHAHHAHAH!
dsmjim that shit was hilarious!

But he's right guys. It's all about the "foreplay/cleaning" you give the "valvecover/girl" that makes it "stick/wet".

Ok... New conversation.
