PAINTING- Emblem, Center Tail, and Lugs

Just wondering if the same paint I used for my GST rims would work in the same with the center tail light (non-functional). [Rattle can Black primer and black gloss over] Sand it? What grit?

How I can paint my front Mitsubishi emblem to black. Would I have to sand it down also? And use the rattle can black primer and black gloss over?

And from what I heard powdercoated lug nuts crack when you torque them, is this true? Anyone with experience? I can get mine painted locally for $40.

yes I would think the paint would work. You should wet sand the emblem and the center panel with like 400 grit sand paper, then wipe off with a wet rag. I would advise you to undercoat it with some kind of primer as well. as for the emblem, tape off the individual diamonds, and all around it and then lightly sand it and undercoat it and paint it like the center piece.

I've painted alot of the details on my car. all I've done is sand it and make the surface rough, then a few coats of some 97 cent walmart spray paint and it stays on with no problems, and looks great.


as far as lights go. sand it with medium grit sand paper, then find some high stuff to smooth it all out. Apply VHT Night Shade if your looking for that nice smoked look.

For the lugs you would have to get them anodized. When you anodize a piece of metal is actually changes the composition of it instead of paint where it just sits ontop of the piece of metal. I work at a powdercoating shop and we won't powdercoat them because they will fail when you torque them.

Not really a fan of the smoked tail lights look..

Yes, stock tails with a painted center. Perhaps a flat black... this is going to be on a red car..
