alright, well i wanted to paint my center console (not the hard vinyl stuff) but the thing covering the seatbelts, so i took off the peice with the cig lighter and ashtray and stuff, and i took out all the screws and the center console was up, but then i pulled a noob move and saw that the seat belts were preventing my from taking out the center console peice, my question is do i have to take out teh 3 bolts ( think its 3 bolts) holding the seat belt in? or is their another way of getting it out? i appreciate any response, and thanks for the help, later

it's really quite easy. the first time i did it, i couldn't figure out what i was going to do either, but i eventually figured it out. fortunately for you, you won't have to go through the headace i did. ok, there should be a guide/bracket thing that the shoulder belt passes through right by the lap belt connection. there is one bolt and some sort of threaded spacer. be careful not to lose those, otherwise it will be a pita to find. so, once your seatbelt is disconnected, you need to pop off the plastic bezel thing around the hole in the center console. it might take a little force, but it should come loose, then just stuff everything back through the hole and your console will lift right off. :thumb:

thanks a lot dude, that was a lot easier than tryen wedge a wrench under the console to get the ENTIRE seatbelt off, props to you, thanks again

Why do people waste time posting pics of painted valve covers and engine parts.

Tuners is not specifically for performance. That is why this is the "Appearance/Interior/Exterior" section. If you're going to criticize people for Interior work, then you shouldn't come to this section. Try to be helpful regardless of the problem.

madatgravity, I'm surprised you didn't PM me first :thumb: heheh,
Let me know if you run into any more difficulties bud.

why do people post pictures of their turbos or front mount intercoolers or stainless steel exhaust or cold air intakes or ..... WTF

let me explain something to you. the whole spo-com scene has a spectrum on one end, you have all the flashing lights, expensive 12 layer paint jobs, big stereos and all that stuff just so the car looks cool. on the opposite side of the spectrum you have the gutted cars with huge turbos, stand alone engine computers, direct port nitrous systems, and other performance upgrades just so they can run the 1/4 mile in 10 seconds. then there are the people in the middle (i'd say maybe 80%) who try to mix the ends of the spectrum.

who says which end is cool and which end is better? don't hate on someone because they like their car to look cool, and don't hate on someone because they want their car to be fast.

did you ever scribble some crayons on a piece of paper when you were younger and then run to your mommy to show her your masterpiece? same idea here, guy. people do something that they think is cool or something they like, they want to show it off. it doesn't matter if it's a freshly painted valve cover, or a newly installed tubular exhaust manifold. take your negative stance somewhere else.

Yes we do, it keeps the moderators on their feet :D

Hey, I tried searching but couldnt find anything that directly helped me. My center console is starting to fade really badly from age. I dont mean the part that flips up, but the black smooth piece where the ash tray and shift boot sit. Would regular interior paint work on this part? Would it still keep its general texture and look? I just wanted to make sure before I went out and did anything. Thanks. :D

Clean it, rough it up a little and as long as you only do a few light coats, you will keep texture. At Autozone you can buy vinyl paint that is made for car interiors.
