You must have the BCS connected to the electrical to keep the ECU from throwing the fault and to keep water from shorting out the connector and frying the driver on the ECU.

You can try a resistor but I believe the ECU is looking for the inductive kick when the cuts power to the solenoid coil and a resistor won't cause that.

The boost solenoid may still be mounted underneath the intake/maf area. If it is plug it back in whether it has vacuum lines connected or not.
