So I have seen people talking about the Injen air intake.. Is it true that this air intake can be used with the (MAS)?
Also can we just pull off our air intake box and leave the MAS there and just use no filter or add a K&N filter?

Injen was designed to be used with the MAS.
You can take off your air box and add a K&N to the end on the MAS as long as you keep the lip from the air box OR bend the clips to hold the filter on correctly.

Well I did it... I ript out the old air box, and just left the lid w/ the MAS there. I cliped on the old filter after cleaning it, w/ the air box lid..
So far the car does suck in more air, and seems to run better at high rpm rates. But the is a little hestiation if i dont run at the right rpm rate in a gear. But when acc. or foot not on pedel the car is fine. But if i'm just trying to cruise and I'm not at the right rpm it has some hesatation.

And also to the person that knows about the Injen intake. Just to check again. It does work with the MAS, and how does it do that? Does it have the connection on it?

All the Injen does is replace your stock rubber hose from your t-body to your intake.

Heres what I used. I put two systems together to make one. A Weapon R intake tube, and a K&N fuel injection performance kit. Although not the cheapest way to go it is very effective.

Oh, yeah and my air-bypass valve on my $300 intake will be laughing when you get stuck in a rain storm or drive through a puddle and suck water into your engine. The point of my intake is to not have to periodically fix it with duct tape...I am not too keen about buying a $12,000 car and rigging things up with dryer hose, flannel shirts and duct tape  , your factory intake would have probally worked better LOL.

Oh..and I'm nocking the flannel shirt (as in dissing it...), not rocking it.

Wow dude! $300 for an intake. Must be good because you can get ones for a 2g on Ebay for like $25 US. I would just take the money you wasted on duct tape and crap and buy a real intake. Not only does it look nice, but it's much more usefull then having to repair the duct tape once it gets wet :D

Good informative post.....But now that I know how to make one, is it really worth all the time...just wondering about the performance and if you can feel a difference...how much hp do you think it will add.......i have a 94 N/T

LOL I've been following this thread for a while. The things people do in an attempt to save money. I suggest not ripping apart house-hold products and creating some frankenstein intake. You'd all probably be better off buying an aftermarket intake or at the very least purchasing one off of ebay. Believe me, you'll save yourself a days worth of work, and god knows how long of embarresment. All I have to say is... SOCKS AND PIECES FLANNEL SHIRTS ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND IN THIS MATTER! Intake filters are made with specific materials, not just to strain clean air into your engine. Eventually these fabrics your using will give way due to the stress of constantly being pulled on. But for those that actually know what your doing, please continue to help the less fortunate ones that dont.:thumb: :dsm: :talon: :laser:

I was the author of this thread a while back when my car when n/t and not once did I want anyone to use household products like dryer hoses or t-shirts. Aluminum piping, silicon couplers and a k&n. You could use steel piping, rubber connectors and the stock air filter if you chose to be cheap.

I saw at true value they had aluminum flexible tubing...think that would work...i might try it here sometime soon when i get the time...just a thought...

just so you know, the flannel shirt thing is ganna just make the wear and tear on your motor go that much faster. The fabric weave in a shirt is not as tight as say a K&N filter not to mention the special oil that is used on most filters. The shirt may stop the bigger stuff from being sucked in your motor but all the fine glass like particals that are going right between the weave in the fabric is tearing up your motor. go ahead and take your block apart and tell me what the inside looks like. If i were you i would just get a K&N to replace my stock filter in my air box till i could afford a CAI thats what i did

if found an cai at k&n part # 57-5500 and it looks and works great. used stock tube and mas, but added the filter and adapter. im into performance not show so this worked fine for me. :dsm:

I wish i could get one for a 1G for 25 bucks but unfortunately they are not available for that cheap  :dsm:
no duct on mine man, thats why it cost the duckets! Performance is the only way to go.

you can actually get an intake system off of ebay for around $25 bucks... but you will have to buy a new air filter and a new rubber pipe fitting for the air filter.... I bought mine from ebay, then got a K&N filter for it from my work, and hooked it all up and it works great... Actually a HUGE difference from stock on a N/T 2.0 auto.... but the one on ebay takes some work, but it works good.... I will post a pic soon....:laser:

I think its funny that you payed $300+ for an intake where i payed less than $35 and they're probably both damn near the same.

yea... 300+ is kinda stupid to pay.... mine is probabaly Identical to his...but I only paid around 70 bucks... ( Intake from ebay, then K&N filter).... and we probabaly get the same performance gains... and mine doesn't suck up water when I hit a puddle either.... also when I installed my intake, I "Gutted" my MAF... so the motor is getting a Lot more air then before... and yes it still runs good... I know those things are touchy....LOL.... my next step with my laser is a sheet metal venom intake manifold and port-polish heads and bigger throttle body.... but it's still pretty quick as it sits.... but I want more... 13's is my goal with an auto N/T....:laser:

i made my old intake out of a 95 civic ex intake from apcrap. i chopped the hell out of it so ti would fit and i made the bends and all out of the same tube. it worked good but the piping was a little to big.:D

I also gutted the MAF makes a big difference, and i never have problems sucking in water even on very wet and rainy days. I still like my intake better than a second rate ebay peice of crap. :laser:

I believe some of you have a misconception of what CAI is. CAI = cold air induction, which means it draws cooler air into the intake. If the intake tube does not direct out of the engine bay, essentially out of the heat, then it is not cold air, it is known as short ram air. Very different performance issues. Just trying to let you know the difference. Some of you are talking about 2 different products.
