the insane way to fix this intake delema is to go spend $300 on two anodized pieces of tubing that say aem on the side and a silcon connector and a filter. note: some standard corporate autoparts stores like pepboys sell cheap pre-cut lengths of varied sizes of exhaust piping. and homedepot sells silicon connectors.

and for race days, replace your flannel with some thin nylon panty hoes.

Your ripping on this kid for a suggestion, but u should be ripped on for spending 300 for an intake. If you shopped around you could of got one for a little under 200 dollars, Ive had my AEM CAI for a year, and i got it for 190 shipped. So I think u need to fix your attitude.:)

ok do you actually know what your talking about. you just made yourself sound like an ignorant a$$hole. if you actually researched a 1gt n/t will be better than your 2g n/t. considering most people who do swaps into a 2g will use a 1g block or even if they do a head swap for a 2g they will throw a 1g head in it. they heads flow better and the 6- bolt block, well thats understood. if you done beleive me when i put the nitrous prepped n/t motor in my car in the next month i will come to wherever you are and race your 2g, and i will come out on top.

I used a 2nd gen ram intake and kind of wedged it into my car and with some hose clamps and ties it fits and works great. and compared to my friends car with a injen intake... mine seems like it gave more of a power gain then her 200 dollar one =P

Hey not to knock UR 1.8 but Maybe before U dump a bunch of money in upgrades U should drop a 2.0 DOHC in it first..;)

hey guys, my first post here.
Just thought i'd show you all a picture of the cold air intake system from the Australian Galant GSR for diy ideas etc.

There are a couple of sound muffling attachments and you can see the intake tubing continuing on the left of the battery to down behind the headlight.

I've never understood why that's called a Ram intake. Air is not getting rammed into it.

The actual name for it is short ram air. Air is getting rammed into the open air element through the front air damn, unlike being sucked in through a tube coming from the air box. It's not actually ram air, its short ram air. Ram air consists of a scoop, which like you were saying, rams air into the intake.

I was thinking all of these people are talking about dryer ducts and pvc did it every occur to any one to go to summit buy the exhaust tubing go to an exhaust shop and have your intake bent up their not only do CAI's work but they work damn well I am a Grad of wyotech and these half ass redneck rigs just should not be allowed on such a beautiful car I sent the extra time and money now I have a one off Cai that does seem to work great Thats my 2 cents

I just registed to dsmtuners and I have also only had my car for like three month so if you want to LOL while your j a c k i n i n g off that is fine with me you cs I just wanted to post something on this site so fu asshole

Very interesting responses to this subject. I just have one question, after deciding to install a short ram or a CAI what do I do with the MAS? One person says you must use it but how are you gonna fit that unit into any homemade or store-bought system. I've been running without the MAS for the summer, she starts like crap but once she warms up the performance with the short ram is DEFINITELY improved. Winter is coming and I either gotta put the old intake back on with the MAS connected or come up with a creative solution. One thought, I can hook up the stock filter housing with a better filter , MAS and no air can. The filter housing can be supported off the aluminum short ram.
What do ya'll think?

No MAS? Are you crazy? Your ECU won't know how much air flow (in Hz) is entering your engine. All it has to go by for spark and fuel is the CAS. Here is what you must do: (this will work in the winter and summer) Get a rubber adapter from your local hardware store that will fit around your new hard intake pipe. The other side of the rubber adapter should fit around the MAS which is still atached to half of the air can. Hint: Measure the diameter of the intake pipe and the MAS before you buy the adapter. Pop a K&N on with the 3 clips, plug in your MAS and you are done. A 5 minute job will save you on gas and engine longitivity.

When I installed my Tranny Cooler a few days ago on my 90 eagle talon nt. I removed the wheel well gaurd and the front bumper, installed the t-cooler up and it there. i noticed a kinda box thing that is in the wheel well area that hooks up to the air can duct. What the heck is that, i dunno what it was but i removed it and now Im looking at the wheel well area. Looks like I might possibly get water through it if I hit a large puddle. i am thinking about doing what another guy in this thread did and use some velcro and a flannel shirt to keep water out but cool air coming in. Idea's?

Errrr no.....2gnt block is totally diferent dude....pop the hoood open on a 2gnt and on a 2gt.....hello!....totally diferent engines ....but actualy i think you were refering to 2g turbos geting 1g engine swaps....now that is possible...

my 2.4 turbo....comming along...not without some small and annoying glitches...once im done we will post time :dsm: :thumb:

Hey fellas, thought i'd show you all my setup. The intake pipe is from a civic and cost me a mere 40 bucks at a local ricer shop, the couplings came with it. I wrapped the intake pipe in what was left of my header wrap and there is a noticeable difference in intake tube temperatures from when it was just bare metal. I made a cold air box out of some .040 steel, bent it on a sheet metal machine, and put some piping insulation (Rubatex) on the top to seal it against the hood. If you pop the hood after running it, the temperature inside the cold air box is the same as the ambient temperature. I don't think it's worth the hassle of trying to run the filter down into the bumper, and you don't have to worry about it when it rains.

This is an intake silencer/resonator, it's there to quiet down intake noise, just like the little diffuser behind the MAS.

Ya know, to touch back on the whole home-made fabric air-filter. A friend of mine had a 1980-somthing Accord... Yeah, he made his own intake..used a tube soak for a filter...At some point it ripped a whole in the soak... Damn piece of cloth got between the throttle body and some of it got caught inside his manifold. Might wanna keep that in mind while your throwing clothing articles on your engine. BTW 300 bucks for an intake!? I got my 2-piece OBX R CAI for $101.95 shipped. You guys really need to shop-around.
