alrigght so when im cruisin the temp will be alright. when i come to a stop or idle the temp rises all the way uppp. at high rpm the temp gague actauly goes to normal then sooon as the rpms drop the temp starts to rise again. sometimes the heat works sometimes it doesnt. i flushed the cooolants about 10times along with changin the t-stat and the radiator cap. ### is the dam problem maybe bad radiator? or heater core..? is it hard doin a heater core on this car? 98 gsx

o yeaa forgot to mention it looked like i started to run lean also drive home tonight. im guesin thats from very hot coolant?

+1 On the fans not coming on. Park it until you can figure it out.... you don't want a warped head or anything.

I had the same problem a while back. Try checking the fans themselves, the relay, and the fan switch on the thermo housing (this was my problem, wires magically decided to come undone from the connector). :talon:

+2 on the Fans not coming on. Did you bleed the cooling system after adding fluids?? When is the last time you replaced your water pump? It wouldnt be a bad idea too look into that as well.

i have custom setup on fans they are coming on. i have aem wideband not shit narrow band.

waterpump timing belt coolant was changed about 2343435 times. w.p was done about 2 weeks ago due to this problem. and that i had to do my timing belt.

Are your fans working propertly? Many fans can be wired both ways making them a pull type or push type. Make sure that they are pushing the air through the radiator into the engine bay. I know it's kind of silly, but manny people have made this mistake before and had their cars overheat.

once again not a fan problem. startin to think its a radiator or small headgasket leak.

ok check all of these things LOL

Insufficient engine coolant

Too high an anti-freeze concentration

Loose or broken drive belt

Inoperative electric cooling fan
--Faulty thermosensor
--Faulty electrical motor
--Faulty radiator fan relay

Damaged or blocked radiator fins

Water leaks
--Damaged radiator core joint
--Corroded or cracked hoses
--Loose bolt or leaking gasket in water oulet fitting (thermostat)
--faulty cap valve or setting o spring
--Loose intake manifold bolts or leaking from gasket
--cracked intake manifold

Faulty automatic transaxle oil cooler operation
--Blocked or collapsed hose and pipe
--Loose hose and pipe connection

Faulty thermostat operation

Fauly water pump operation

Water passage clogged with slime or rust deposit or foreign substance

This was out of my service manual hope it helps

alright thanx man. i basically checks and did everything on that list. im not burning coolant and not losing any. if i hook my logger i have up to it cruising its fine soon as i get on it for a little bit the temp rises if i hold the rpm at 2k the temp starts to drop back down. i replaced everything and i even changed out the radiator today. grrrrrrr wtf. its gets as hot as 240f

...soon as I get on it for a little bit, the temp rises. If I hold the rpm at 2k, the temp starts to drop back down...

You know..that does sound like water pump - for the pump just aint getting the fluid fast enough to the radiator.

NOW, I'm gonna hit a stupid one here: Where is your licence plate mounted at? Is it mounted in the front where it's in the air flow for the radiator? For if it is, it's acting like a big air dam pushing the air away from the radiator, why it's heating up on you when you get on it and it cools down when you are going slow since it's allowing air to get to the radiator, or when you're sitting there with a 2k idle to cool it down.

i kno what u mean. i acutaly dont have the front plate on . i know if sounds like waterpump i just replaced it due to this problem. i would think it would be a headgasket but im not burning cooolant nor is my oil milkyy

a good way to check the radiator to see if its plugged is to use one of those infarred laser temp gauges and put in on diff spots on the rad. if one spot is a lot cooler than others its a plugged rad.
