Hey. This is 97' GS-T. I am so sorry for this. I have a unimaginable amount of things to talk about. First off, Banning me from the forums for 7 days is like taking insulin from a diabetic. I live and BREATHE DSM TUNERS. Please do not ban me again. Yes yes, I have learned my lesson. No ridiculous posts over and over about one topic. Never again mods.
Anyways, Please read all of this and give your answers. I just bought a car friday night. Its a 1993 Mitubishi Eclipse GS. It is dark forest green with 167,000 miles. 5 speed of course. I love it. Trust me, Buying a dsm and not being able to use the forums WAS KILLING ME. I thought this was just a forum, but I am A D D I C T E D.
Anyways, There are a few things wrong with it.
Exterior:
-Left front fender, Sun wear.
-Rear Right tire is missing a lug nut
-Front bumper, On the bottom left it is missing alot of paint from deep scratches from riding curbs.
-Front bumper, Same spot, has a 2 inch crack
-I dont know what its called, but the black mini bar on the drivers and passanger side doors that runs along the bottom of the windows.... There both missing paint. Its cracked and chipped but the black is still there.
-Antenna, Its bent a lil and stuck in short position
-The red light that is on the opeing hatch about 3-4 inches long the plastic in the corner is cracked
-Rear bumper has a 2 inch crack in it and its scratched not to bad
Interior
-The steering wheel, Try to think hard and imagine this: There are two parts to my steering wheel, the wheel part and handles connecting to the center. The center however is a plastic part that is completly seperate. The center is the part with the
Logo. Anyways, the whole horn plastic and lower is ripped off.
- The drivers side sunvisor is weak and hangs
- The passenger side sunvisor is gone. The peice broke.
-The ash tray, its missing its lid.
- Im not sure what its called, but on my moms old talon, we (my mom and I) called it the power button. Its that EC button by the radio on the center console.... Well, Mine, its gone. There isnt one for some reason. The place for it to be there is there though.
- The a-pillar on the passanger side broke off and is completly gone.
- The black plastic peice that covers that metal thing on the door inside where you would adjust the mirror manually is gone. It broke off.
- Because the a-pillar is gone, the ceiling carpet is loose and hangs.
Engine
-The spark plug cover is cracked and the mitsubishi part is faded bad.
-The cam gear cover is yellowish black dirty and cracked so bad is hangs loose sorta
Then THE BIG Problem.
When I bought it the gas pedal was VERY stiff in the beginning of pushing it. Its hard to explain but it was real hard and stiff until you got about half was through the pedal stroke did it get normal. This was causing me to kill it and over rev it alot do to my mistakes.
It has a strong motor and it shifts perfect but the gas pedal was really stiff in the beginning. So I went to pep boys and bought 4 NGK Stock spark plugs, a Fram Air Filter and a quart of oil. I went home and succesfully installed the plugs, filter, and added a quart (was low). Then I started it up, it was ALL Boggy and sounded horrible. When you stepped on the gas it bogged out and didnt sound clean through the rev at ALL. After 15-20 Revs it got AWESOME. Not only did it idle PERFECT at 1,000 rpm but when smashing the gas it fully and throughly pressed easily and revved super nice and clean. Well, the next day I drove her for 2 hours and she was running great. Strong. Clean. Perfect. We got back home and she was idleing 1,000 rpm perfect. Well, I turned her off. Went to bed and woke up. Then I started her, she started fine, cranked 2-3 times then fired. Then She sounded like crap again. Bogging, 200-350 rpm idleing and dieing constantly. She did it for the rest of the day, at a hardware store, everywhere. Died at like 4 lights. I had to constantly keep her revved. Now, 2 days later, she idles at a constant 500-600 rpm. When I rev her, she goes up to 3-4 thousand and then when I let her go down, she goes like 150-200 rpm then bounces to 600 quickly. It ALMOST dies. Even at 600 she sounds boggy and wants to die. When revving and flooring it in 1st its boggy and sounds grogged out. 2nd's ok, 3rd 4th is perfect. Good power. My dad thinks it might be the fuel filter. I have only changed the air filter and plugs. No wires.. The airfilter was BAD.
. But she made a HUGE improvment from the plugs n filter.
Anyways, I have a few q's. Can you tell me where I can buy oem parts. IE Left a-pillar, ash tray, coin tray (damn lid wont go down), Sunvisors, That black inteior mirror peice, Power button or something I could put there, Center peice for steeringwheel, and ceiling carpet?
Can you tell me some ideas about my engine problem?
What about the cam gear cover, should I take it off? I see alot of pics with people having them off.
The spark plug cover, replace it? Where to buy? Take it off and leave it off?
The red light on the hatch on the rear, the plastic? where to buy?
The red plastic that says mitsubishi across it, does that come off? Where to buy?
Rear and front bumpers I plan to change with body kit.
It is goiing to be painted so sunwear and cracks dont matter.
Lug nut? Where to buy? anyone work?
