I was driving ma car out today to go somewhere and earlier it shut off then stopped i start it back up it ran and it didn't seem like nothing big. Now after it did it 3rd time i stopped and check radiotor and notice there was no water in the radiator bottle meaning no more water in radiator. now i put water and everything and it wont start it just wont turn over. I even changed the starter. What else could it be thats causing it not to turn over. Can the overheating have messed up the spark plugs, or could the relay get mesed up from the over heating or something. Please help me cause my car is stuck all the way off of some turnpike. I even tried to jump start it and nothing

I-75 turnpike? Thats were my car overheated. Haha. Anyways, your problem could be something very simple, or could be very serious. Did you actually overheat your car? Did your temp gauge actually go into the "red" area? Did it happen more than once? Did you keep driving the car after it happened once? It sounds like you started to check the basics. I would check your oil. Look for coolant in your oil. Also make sure your cooling system holds coolant. Also, that radiator bottle is called your coolant overflow reservoir. I think we need a little more information on your situation.

If your car is still stuck on the turnpike. I would get it towed to a garage or your house. I wouldn't leave it out there. AAA will do it within a certain mile radius of the destination. If not, possibly try to find a trailer or trailering service.

Do a compression test.

If his car won't turn over, a compression test won't do anything for him.

Also, if it really did overheat (as indicated by the temperature gauge... or not, if the thermostat's broken  ), and it won't turn, even after replacing the starter, the piston rings may have melted right into the cylinder walls. In addition, the block could be cracked, and the head might be warped and/or cracked too. I really hope, for your sake jjboost, this isn't the case... if it is, you might as well start looking for a new engine.

Oops ROFL
I read right over the part about it not turning over... Aren't I the idiot? :coy:

If you replaced the starter and it still won't turn over, then either:
A) You have a bad ignition fuse
B) You have a bad battery
C) You have a short in your starter wiring harness, or
D) The engine is seized or the crank is in a bind from the drivetrain.

Check D first.
First, take out the spark plugs so you don't have to worry about fighting compression.
If it's a manual, put it in neutral. Turn the wheels all the way to the left to give you access to the driver's side wheel well. Now take a 1/2" drive ratchet with a 6" extension and fish it through the hole in the splash guard provided. Put it in the crank sprocket bolt (in the middle of the crank pully). Now try to rotate the engine SLOWLY clockwise. DO NOT force it or turn it counter-clockwise. If it won't turn, it's time pull the motor. If it does turn, the problem lies in your starting system. Hope this helps.

I just had a very similar thing happen, I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden I notice loss of power, I killed the engine and costed to the bottom of an off ramp. I let the engine cool down (thermostat must be broken because the gauge never went to red) I checked the oil, it smells burnt but no antifreeze or water in it, the car won't start though. I sitting in it right now and its almost cooled all the way down to cold. I hope I didn't damage anything! Stupid thermostat...
