overheat then a tic

ok so i decided to go full throttle on my 90 tsi. but i wasnt looking at the temp gauge. and it overheated and died. but when i let it cool down and started it up i know notice a cylinder head tic. what did i screw up?

anybody? help?

check you oil for metal shavings if there is any doubt in your mind pull the pan and hopefully there wont be chucks of bearings, happened to me when i built a stroker motor

If your lucky you only crushed a lifter. Reguardless its gonna cost dough to fix it.

Oh no! Always watch that temp gauge. My thermostat failed on me about 6 months ago, and I wasn't watching my gauge (I was watching the boost) and luckily I smelt the hot coolant before the car died and I pulled over. Good luck there bud.

well if its just a tick then its a lifter but if its a loud knock then its your bottom end and its time for a new engine.
