Overdrive issue

Hey guys, i have a 1997 Eclipse GST Spyder. The transmission is automatic. When i drive the car in overdrive, it slips into neutral at about 2000rpms or as soon as i get on the throttle. But when i turn off overdrive its 100% fine. i just cant go 60 mph or im at 4500rpms..

The check engine light is on for a Transmission Range Sensor.
But i cant find it anywhere. it kinda seems like a similar issue with dodge trannys and the shift silinoids.
But im clueless..

My car has been doing this for 9 months, i drive it around in third but its miserable,my mil wont come on and the snap on modis wont pick up any errors? i put it in overdrive and all of a sudden vroom vroom, no moving, then click of a button and im back in gear. i dont know what our isse is but if it was the end clutches it would slip in all gears but mine dosent. i need help, any advise? 97 gst auto

Yeah i have a code for transmission range sensor. but im convinced it could be a shift selinoid, but it seems more like electronic than mechanical.

I brought it in to the transmission shop today, The guy says its 4th gear out. And it will eventually cause 2nd gear to go out and so fourth. So he said it may need an Overhaul but ill let you know tomorrow night.

if the OD is bad why don't you just change the end clutch. Mitsu sells it for ~$250 and IPT has a end clutch rebuild kit for ~$90

If its OD, it could be your end clutch is worn out.

Like the guy above said, go get ipt end clutches and do it yourself and that'll be the end of it. Better then OEM.
