I normally don't post much because I can usually find what I need by searching, but in this case I'm still a little confused.

I recently installed the dejon tool complete intake piping and FMIC with MAFT blowthrough setup from the stock setup when I installed my new transmission. Before this I already had all the other mods listed in my profile. On my old setup I would get about 2-3psi of creep. After the new items were installed I get about 13psi of creep. (I have it start at about 10psi and it creeps to about 23) I'm assuming that the car is getting much more airflow then before.

My conclusion is that I need an external wastegate, 1 because I don't want to mess around trying to port this and that and changing flappers and all that stuff, and 2, I just want one to vent to atmotsphere. :sneaky:

All this leads to my question. How do I go about prepping for an ext wastgate and are there any complete kits/places to buy everything I need. Which is easier to do, off the manifold or off the O2 housing? If i go off the manifold do i need to weld the turbo's flapper shut or just leave it with the vacuum line pulled off? If i do off the O2 housing do I have to remove the flapper and aren't I still restricted by the turbo's exhaust housing?

I do all the work on my car myself and I realize these might be stupid/common sense qustions but for some reason I'm brain fried thinking about it. Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

I would definatly try your hardest to install the wastegate on or as close as possible to the collector on your manifold. Since it looks like you have a stock one that may be hard. Ebay has cheap wastegates if you are on a budget and they are nice and come with all the flanges so you can pipe it in whereever you want. Hope that helps, Keith.

www.punishment-racing.com is the best bang for your buck. Off the exhaust manifold will require you to weld the turbo's flapper shut. Leaving the vacuum line pulled off won't do anything.

If you do it off the o2 housing, you'll have to remove the flapper. You could port out the wastegate hole if you want or leave it the way it is.

I would recommend off the o2 housing and punishment racing offers the combo you have the option of atmosphere or recirculating with a tial 38mm or 44mm wastegate which I think is the best bang for your buck http://www.punishment-racing.com/catalog.html

I did see those and as of right now they are most appealing to me... If I did it off the O2 housing would I need to completly remove the flapper from the turbo and would I how much restriction would I have from the exhaust housing on the turbo?

I'm a little confused.. are you saying I would need to custom make an manifold to mount the wastegate on the collector?

Ok sounds good.. If I do off the O2 housing and remove the flapper and try to port out the housing, does it sound like this would solve my problem with the mods I have installed? My goal is to run about 18psi and hold it on pump gas.

I welded my Wastegate flange onto my exhaust manifold. I looks really cool. It just didn't sit well under the hood becuase I welded it upright instead of at a forward angle. But it looks awesome, and is probably the best location functionally as well.

Honestly, if you are going to port the turbine housing, try porting it first to see if it gets rid of boost creep before you decide to go external.

If you goal is to dump, then port the turbine housing and buy this...
