Hi there,
I would like to know some opinions from dsmwisemen or any person experienced with tuning. I am using Keydiver's DSMchip stage 3, and Jeff is going to burn me a new chip, but would like your opinions before I go about changing things.
Stock boost gauge mod to KNOCK meter(CEL comes on when ecu starts pulling timing for knock)
Wideband A/F ratio 11:1 - 11.8:1
Boost @ 18psi, Would like to end up @ 20 PSI tuned.
Well, the timing curve has been alot smoother in 2nd gear, there was just a
tad bit of knock, enough to move the needle, but not enough to flash the
CEL, this was around 6k rpms, right before I shifted into 3rd.
For 3rd gear, it was a little rough, shifted from 2nd to 3rd, and started
knocking at 5.7k rpms, I let off at 6k rpms because the KNOCK CEL came on.
logged timing for 3rd gear was
4716 = 11 degrees
4928= 11 degrees
5208= 12
5532= 13
5788= 15
6072= 14
For 2nd gear, it was
3664= 8
4256= 9
4984= 12
5604= 15
6292= 16
Seems like Knock begins between 5.7k rpms and gets worse as it gets higher.
OR when there is more load. (i.e. 3rd gear) What do you think of the timing
to RPM curve?
Should I try richening it up to 10.5:1 with my afc and keep the current timing curve?
Enclosed is the current timing tables that are on my chip.
Jeff at dsmchips thinks that my timing curve may be too aggressive for 92 octane.
I've attached a snapshot of the top 5 timing maps,
which represent 4, 7, 10, 17, and 25 psi of boost from
left to right. As you can see, the top map peaks at
the second line from the bottom, which represents 16
degrees of advance. Each datapoint represents 500 rpm
increments, with the top rpm, ED78, being 7500 rpm.
The picture shows my maps, in red,
overlayed with the stock maps, in green. The green
spikes are where the stock timing actually dips below
0 degrees.

I know if I had dsmlink, I would beable to change all of these settings ASAP, but Jeff is very helpful with anything that deals with dsm's, and he hooked it up with a good deal on the Eprom ECU.
