opinions on price/value of '91 TSI, 100% stock, 57k miles

Someone has asked me to research the value of their '91 TSI as they intend to sell it. Thus, I'm looking for the forums opinions on a virtually mint condition '91 TSI 5-speed with just 57k miles. They bought it from the original owner in '93 with 16,000 on the clock and it's barely moved since. Red w/ black top and it's virtually flawless other than a few rock chips.

At this point... that's all I know. I'd gladly take your opinions.

I paid $3,300 for my bone stock 1992 laser with 55,000 original miles on it in 2007.

There shouldn't be any problem getting $3,500 out of the car if you're selling it to the right person, maybe even 4k

I believe I live three miles from the owner. Outside of Garretson? I have seen it sitting in his yard on nice days. I would say he could get $3,500-4,500 if he found a buyer that knew what they were looking at. I do not know if he could get that price locally. The 60k service may impact the price.

I got my 91 with 60k on it same colour combo with some mods for 2k...

I got my 93 with 70k miles on it for $2,000 in '05. But I'd pay double that for a car of equal caliber. I got lucky and messed up big time.

it's actually in Brookings, SD. So, it's likely a different car. it is, however, a neat coincidence that the cars are so close.

I'll let him know. I'm not trying to 'steal' the car by any means, but I wouldn't mind owning a DSM. My other toys doing do well in the winter...

Hell I saw a bid war for a similar deal owner ended up getting 250 more than he originally asked for @ $3750

We cannot appraise cars we can't see, touch, sit in and drive. The "value" will be determined by its final selling price.
