OP: you don't have emissions testing required in your county, so you don't need a cat. If you use just a test pipe, make sure the pipe diameter remains constant, or it will do more harm than good.

just curious on what you guys are running. I also have another question I heard that due to the elevation where im at a 20g would not really be good, I would be better off with a big 16g??

Turbo options are dependant on what you wnat out of the car.

Cat-less anyday; and for the turbo it really depends on your goal like 94 TSi said, speaking of which, you should elaborate.

Get a TP resonator. Got my stainless off ebay for $31 shipped with gaskets + bolts. The Sound of it is not an issue at all and an improvement over how quiet car is with a stock cat. Don't replace with a straight pipe because sound is crappy compared to a TP resonator.

Of course cat less no doubt about it :thumb: but unlike me I have to run it since I have to go through emissions testing :( bummer I know.

I have to go through emmissions every 2 yrs and probably will unbolt the TP resonator and stick the cat back on when the time comes :thumb:

+3 on no cat. I'm also running a resonator in place of a cat. Casual glance it looks like a cat, in case ever get pulled over.

I agree. With these cars, you want the flow. As long as it's not a legal issue where you live, I say no cat aswell.

It's a legal issue for everyone in the US, it is illegal to remove a functioning catalytic converter, a broken cat must be replaced with a factory(ish) replacement.

I know all the legal issues but where I am there is no emissions testing so I will probably just go with a test pipe. Should I buy a cat back exhaust and get a new test pipe, downpipe and 02 sensor or should I just go to a muffler shop and tell them to custom make a 3 inch exhaust from the downpipe back? Which would be cheaper.

Oh yeah I love how these sti's around here sound ( like a v8) is it just that type of car or the exhaust setup they have?
