Opening UICP hole on 2G Turbo

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone has tried to hack the opening where stock air box is taking the air from.

It seems that my car is pulling timing during drag races as the under the hood temps are going nuts while I'm waiting in line for the start, coolant temperatures reach 220F, air temp reaches 104F and MAF air temp scaled can go up to 110F in EvoScan logs.

I have aftermarket air filter on my car and also aftermarket intercooler piping.

I haven't done the airbox yet, since the 4" intake piping makes it a little bit messy, but I'm planing to do it ASAP.

So I was thinking about making that hole bigger while at it, but I don't know if that wont make problems during heavy rain.

Has anyone tried to do that, and how it turned out, is water being sucked in during highway driving during heavy rainfalls or is it ok?

I couldn't find anything about that via searching, only airbox treads.

PM member calan. He fabbed up a custom one off piece from fiberglass From what Ive seen you would have to see water upwards of 2 feet. He'll probably be able to give you some ideas on where to start.

My plan is to make a removable fiberglass box in that corner. I have the hole for the SMIC open, so that should let in all the air I'd need.

Well it works for competition drags where the line moves slowly, but the training sessions are nightmare this way.
