only one wheel spins

Hi guys I have an eclipse gst and only the drivers side wheel spins and the passenger side wheel spins freely when on jack and in gear. That means my passenger side axle is Brocken right?

If you dont have a lsd or a welded diff its normal........

Yap, same thing even happens with an AWD... Except it might be 2 instead of 1.

so if u hold the other wheel it wont move at all?

Out of curiousity here I just want to know something since it's related to this. My 90 RS-T Laser will spin both front tires every time if you dump the clutch. I've laid rubber down for like a block before and my ex as well as my neighbors would point out the tire marks for you.
What does that mean in terms of my car having an open diff? Is there something wrong with the differential?

Like if I get on it in 1st gear only the driver side tire spins witch sucks ### I have no traction but I was taking my wheels off the other day and the passenger wheel would spin very easy in gear on jack stand like it was in neutral

That guide just describes what an open diff does. Mine is open diff from the factory. But I can assure you it will smoke both tires every time. Considering the amount of Racing stickers my car had on it for parts the car didn't have I'm pretty sure the diff is stock. The guide doesn't really help there.

Have you owned the car and transmission since new? If not, somebody may have put in an LSD insert at one point in it's past
