only grinding in first! need help.

Ok I'm just looking for some knowledge on what my problem might be before I track down a new tran. Little info my cars a 92 awd I got as a roller 2 years ago found a guy selling a 93 awd this last august complete running car with a blown clutch or tran so I bought it and found a disintegrated clutch everything jived with his story. So I swapped everything into my shell (other one was toast) did a bsek on the engine found I forgot the linkage mount for the tran in the parts car which went to scrap. So I went and got a 90 linkage setup and adjusted it so I had all my gears but first would alway grind and bounce out unless I let off the clutch and then tried again it would work good no grind. So I drove it around town a couple times to make sure I only had minor electrical gremlins.....then it lost all gears. Limped it home in 2nd and found the clips holding the tran cables to the bracket all popped off. Fixed that and now have no first period it just grinds like a mofo and pops out and my cables have no adjustment left.

Anyone had this happen before to them? What was the problem?

Does it pop out of gear, sounds like you may have a bad first gear mine went out in fourth.

Ya it just pops out, clutch it in and when I start to let out the car will creep forward but it grinds and wants to kick out.

Sounds internal to me a bad gear perhaps especially with the mileage maybe on the transmission.

I hope not but you do have more experience then me. The guy I got my parts car from said he was trying to climb out of the ditch in the snow when he blew the clutch. Think I could drive it still?
