Ok I have been rebuilding my eclipse for a while now and im almost done. There is gas in the tank and that car sat for around a year. I am for sure going to drain the old gas and replace with new of course. I just need to no if i should get another fuel pump because I dont know if the old one might have gone bad from the steril gas or not.

Also when I run it is there a specific gas I should run all the time or does it matter with these cars?

if the fuel pump is working, and delivers the pressure you need , let the pump do its job.

a year is not too bad for sit time, just have a new fuel filter or 2 handy.

I have just dumped fresh fuel on top of the stale and just drove it out easy, no boost, this seems to work on less than a 1/4 tank of stale gas and 5 gallons of the hi-test fuel, and maybe a bottle of water remover, Heet I think its called.

if you see rust colored gas and pieces of rust come out of the drain plug it might just be worth it to remove and clean out the tank. its rare that it happens but if bad gas was left in there it might. by bad i mean gas contaminated with water (happens more frequently now a days). or if you had the fuel system open to allow fresh air in this tends to corrode the tanks.

the tank on my mustang was open to the atmosphere (bad fuel cap) and it rusted out half the tank and rusted the fuel pump. it had huge pieces of rust in there. same with my dad's bike

mine sat for 7yrs and my fuel pump still works. like BoqusSVO said, as long as the fuel pump is doing its job, let it be. just replace the fuel filter for sure

The pump will be fine. I would run some fresh gas through it, then check the screen on the pump and replace the filter if you have any doubts.
