My motor is on a stand and had good oil pressure when it ran.

I can't seem to get the damn plug off the front case to access the balance shaft.

Everyone I've talked to have recommended just leaving the plug in, replacing the seals and using the old jump. The problem is I already have the new replacement pump here, and its a ebay hyundai cheapy. The two pumps look the same as far as I can see.

This being the case...:) what would you do?

since youve already bought it then I guess try to figure out a way to get it off so you can use it, other wise thatd be a waste of money dont you think?
And as far as my knowledge Ive never heard of a oil pump going out in a dsm,
normally low oil pressure would be the cause of several other problems, which you dont have low oil pressure so even if you dont use it I think youd be ok. I mean how many miles does your car have? I think you should replace the pump since you have a new one.

LOL not surprised considering your car is over 16yrs old....Def put new pump you wouldnt want to not do itand for whatever reason have to go back in there and do it 6 months down the line, if it decieded 2 kick the bucket, just for insurance i guess, even though likevi said ive never seen or heard a oil pump go out but you never know right...

I have a 90s 6 bolt motor in my 93 1g and it was rebuilt and etc, but the one thing I ran out of money to do was replace the oil pump and I wish I had replaced it ( not that I fear its going to go out, because the 90s motors are some of the strongest 4g63 motors made ) but I mean just do what you can while you can. It would be a pitty to spend money to back track because you didnt do what couldve/shouldve been done, when that money to do that couldve been your new front mount or whatever,,, get my point.
