Oil Sprayed out on left side of Engine Bay?

I bought a 97 tsi and the previous owner said it was blown head gasket but the car wont start idk why! wont make a sound or turnover or anything some electrical stuff wrk in car like dash lights doorlocks headlights only when u turn them on bright and tail lights...(and the horn goes off every time you turn the lights on!)...but he said some oil sprayed out on the left side of engine bay and i do see some oil still on stuff...could this be my problem? or is it electrical?
 
If crazy stuff like the horn going off when the lights turn on is occurring, sounds like a short or a grounding problem. The oil leak is more than likely not related unless the oil is all over the wire harness somewhere and there are bare wires causing the short. There is not nearly enough info in here to accurately determine your problem.
 
well i think i am missing a relay underneath the steering colum but i dont know which relay...and electrical work on a car is really not my cup of tea...is the ECU Located in The Brain? and i will post a pic up of the missing relay in awhile...and also do you may know where the ahort may be or how to find it? ( and i did check the fuses some were blown but i did replace them) Thanx Alot

That wouldn't cause any of these problems.

You definitely have an electrical problem, sounds like a short. I would work on getting that relay figured out and see if the problems persist. I don't honestly know too much about the electrical systems on these cars. As far as the oil on the left side of the engine bay goes, do you mean the left side of the bay looking from the front of the car, i.e. the passenger side? One easy thing to check would be the oil feed location on the head, which is located on the top front corner of the passenger side of the head. Good luck with this.
 
Test the alternator. I had that happen on a car and it ended up being a internal short in the alternator. It made all the relays freak out and the horn would stay on until I disconnected the battery.
 
I'm not sure if the 2G is like the 1G, but on the 1G there is a button that is depressed when you press down on the clutch. If the clutch does not make contact with this button the car will not turn over at all. I found out about it the hard way, after testing the battery, alternator, and starter. I can take a picture of it if you need me to. Good luck.

All manual vehicles have this i presume. In the 2G you should deactive it anyway to take pressure off the thrust bearing. That oil spray might indeed be the oil feed line going bad, check to see if there is any noticeable oil on it.
 
that oil spray is the boost hose came off and your turbo oil seals are blown and it sprayed all over the engine bay thats what happened to me
 
yea thats what happend because u can tell those cupplings for the intercooler and stuff were kinda burnt...
 
well looks like you need a new turbo and thats what happened to me

beause if you have oil in your boost hoses your turbo seal is blown

i would upgrade to a 14b or a 16g

if i were you get the crankwalk fixed if you can

but yea bro i have had that happened but i had a cheap ebay 16g on my car
