I just bought a turbo from a guy it,s a Turbonetics t3/ to4e 50 trim, AGP polished cover, ceramic ball bearing, wate cooled, .63 A/R, stage 3 exhaust wheel, my question is should I put a oil restrictor ,he sent me 1 but it seems too big, 4mm ,I say that because the turbo smokes a lot and I even wonder if the turbo is really a bb how can a tell?

He stated his has coolant ports. I'm not too familiar with the housing differences on their stuff for BB chra's. One way you can tell is by the feel and sound of the wheels spinning. BB turbos always seem to have a notable louder sound while spinnign much free'er/longer after the engine shuts diown or when you spin it by hand. you definitely should use a restrictor if it's ball bearing, but untill you figure it out why don't you post a picture, i'm sure jusmx141 can tell you in an instant if he sees it exactly what it is and what to do with it, he's the turbo doctor! :D

Its got to be a bb then, I put a t on the oil line after the restrictor to take the pressure .At idle it,s 12psi and at wot 75 80 psi max is this too much pressure for a bb turbo?

I would think so. Ball bearing (GT) Garretts like as low of pressure as possible from a restricted source, which is why most ball bearing turbos are fed at the head on DSM's.

I'd get in touch with Turbonetics and see what they recommend as their bearing and cartridge design may be completely different.

They said 90 psi max.Does that sound good to you? What would be the price to change the oil seals?
