I just finished my whole build. Seized one oil pump. Now I think my new one is whining. It's brand new OEM and its the straight cut gears. I used the VFAQ for my timing. I can fit the 5/32 drill bit under the tensioner arm so I don't think the belt is too tight. Is this normal or is something else going on?

I have good oil pressure at idle, like 40-50 psi. I really don't wanna grenade this motor. It has like 6 miles on it. You don't hear much at idle but driving you can. At about 2500 rpms I'm seeing about 75 psi for oil pressure. I originally thought it was my alternator. Please help!

My car has 10psi reading on the oil pressure gauge after its all warmed up and idling. Sounds like you have really high oil pressure but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Your current mods list also doesnt include a bsek which will raise oil pressure. And im running straight cut gears, not helical like ones found in your 2g. Unless you have both of these you should see lower oil pressure than I would. Im not entirely worried about high oil pressure at the moment. I've herd of people pegging a 100psi guage at cold start up. I dont do that. I havent even gotten a hole lot of time to drive the car around due to some tuning issues and mainly the noise, so I dont have a lot of good info on exact pressure readings. I know you can port the oil filter housing and ect which I will if I have to. But for the moment im worried about the noise and toasting this oil pump I just bought.

That they do but Ive never herd a car with them and have no idea how loud they should be! I've gotten mixed answers. That they whine but you wont hear it over the motor. But its been stated mitsu moved to helical gears after the '90 because customers were complaining of the whine.

6 bolts had spur gears and 7 bolts had helical gears.

CORRECTION: I just spoke to Paul at JNZ tuning, he told me that 6 bolts can use either the helical or spur cut gears. 7 bolts only use the helical gear. All 6 bolt front cases are the same, so they can use either or. In addition he said some recommended spur cut, because in theory they stronger (like dogbox teeth) for high hosepower application. Both should work.

Only the 90's came with the straight cut gears

im about 99% sure its only the 90 oil pumps.

(Nope, change happened in 92)

Hahah I didnt make this post to argue the fact of what years the gears came in. They came in '90s and then they switched to helicals because of customer complaints.
