So I'm driving along one day, glance down at the gauges and my oil pressure gauge is dead. It isn't reading anything. The car runs just fine though. I had my oil changed recently (after the gauge stopped working), there is plenty of oil in there (I watched them put the 4+ quarts in). What could cause the stock oil pressure gauge to stop functioning, and how do I fix it? I had electronic problems a few days before it stopped working.

Is it possible there really isn't ANY oil pressure and my car has been running fine for two weeks now? I took the oil cap off one day (soon after) and revved the car a bit, and oil came out, so I'm pretty sure there is pressure.

Also, I've noticed a ticking coming from the cylinder head now, which would be a sign that there ISN'T any oil pressure. The ticking is getting worse. Could it just be the lifters, or is it possible that I have piston slap? I recently got JE Pistons and Eagle rods put in, and I heard the valves hitting the JE pistons is common. Help? Thanks!

Plug the wire back onto the pressure sender, down by the filter. You may want to zip-tie it in place.
