Oil pressure gauge maxed out after recent work

I just replaced my oil cooler lines, -6 push lock lines, they are not kinked at any extreme angles and I blew them out with air before I reinstalled them so I know they were clean.

Installed hks cams and I torqued them correctly, even went back and re-torqued them to be sure.

When I put the new oil filter i dropped it on accident, I know I'm clumsy. It is an oem evo filter so I am thinking maybe the drain back valve broke and it's blocking the oil.

Also my engine fell (only a couple inches, released the pressure too quick) when it was on the engine hoist while it was out. It broke the t fitting for the pressure sender and when I tried removing it I kinda crushed it since it was so stuck.

I know the stock gauge is unreliable but it was showing normal pressure before this. Anyone have any suggestions or advice? Could slightly crushing the sender break it? The gauge is reading just below maxed out within about 15 seconds after start up. Using 10w30 mobile one synthetic on a 6 bolt engine with balance shafts removed.

It is always possible. I would replace it, and get an after market oil pressure gauge for security.

No worries mate its most likely just the sender giving you false readings

I hope it is just the sender. I'm wondering if anyone else may have done something similar to their sender and had it do this, or broke their oil filter by dropping it.

I just wonder with how inaccurate the gauge is, would slightly crushing it even cause such a problem.

And on top of it, would something get trapped so quickly that on first start up it would cause it to max out so fast, I would figure it would take at least a minute for something to get picked up and run through the system and cause this. Thats another reason why I think it could be the oil filter because if its causing a blockage it would make sense for the pressure to rise instantly. I've just never heard of someone messing up their filter.

you damaged the sensor. It's clear from the pictures. Replace the sensor. If it doens't respond then (and I'd wager it does) then worry about root cause.

I found a pressure gauge that looks like it should thread into the same port as the sensor so I'm going to try using that to get an idea of what the actual pressure is. I really wish I didn't toss my old pressure sender that came with the engine

But I will post back with the results

Alright so I tried the gauge and it instantly maxes out past 60psi as soon as it starts. What could possibly cause such high pressure instantaneously. Could it be the filter? The car sounds fine for the 10 seconds it's running, I'm afraid to keep trying over and over with such a pressure problem.

I didn't take into account how cold it is and that the oil pressure would be pretty high on start up. I let it run for a couple minutes and the pressure was down to 20-25 psi by the time the car had warmed up. It is the sender and I will just buy a new one from jnz.
