Oil level.

Stupid question but better safe then sorry. What's the difference between a cold level of oil and warm? When I check it cold it reads that it's full but when I check it warm it is right at the add line. Any suggestions? Do I add oil or no? Thanks.

After being driven, the oil has been splashed everywhere which is why it reads low. After sitting, all of the oil has drained back down into the pan. Adding oil if it's at the full line when cold will result in overfilling it.

Check the engine oil with the engine off.

cool and off, so the oil has had a chance to cool and sticks evenly to the stick, when it's warm it moves a lot easier so when you pull it out warm you'll likely get a spotty reading. also stated all the oil is in the oil pan which is what you're trying to measure

Alright. I was freaking out cause of the difference. I was like wtf?!? I just topped off! But I just checked it with letting it cool for a few hours and it came up full on the stick.
