Oil level indicator

Can anyone tell me why when I check my oil it shows full. However, when I turn my dipstick 180 deg., reinstert it and check it again it shows that its almost a quart low. oh its a 4g63t awd

unless you are checking from a cold start it would be accurate if you have been driving for a while and checked. If you have been driving for a while and pop your hood to check, I would pull the dip stick and wipe first. Then, pull it back out and that should be an accurate reading.

Roostinds is right.You need to be driving a bit,to check the oil level.When you stop,take out the dipstick,clean it and dip again to check the oil level.

re-check it when the motors hot, look under your car and make sure theirs no surprise oil puddles lurking

just like eveyone else said check when hot. as far as turning the dipstick 180 i dont know about that.

Trust me I think its impossible but I can do it back to back and it will do the same thing everytime. I am at a lost on how this can be thats why I had to ask.

So you are saying when you put it back in at 180 degrees it shows that you are a full capacity and when you do another 180 it shows you are a quart under??

Yeah thats exactly what im saying. I have tried it multiple times because I could never figure out how right after I do an oil change im a quart low then all sudden im right on then check it again and im a quart low. Its crazy and its driving me nuts because I cant figure out how this can be.
