Hi,

I got my oil changed yesterday. Drove down 80 miles and now I noticed that my oil is leaking from under the engine bay and coming towards the right hand side wheel. It is oil because I checked it and not AC water or anything.

Is it safe for me to drive back home 80 miles or should I get it towed? When I turned on the car the oil pressure gauge was at LOW, but I guess that was due to the fact that the car was stationery.

Help guys, I am stranded here.

P.s. It is a manual 99 eclipse gs-t with 88000 miles on it.

P.P.S you guys are awesome. Thanks in advance!

Can you see where the oil is coming from. You said you got your oil changed, did you get it done at a shop or do it your self. Check your drain plug to see it is tight, your filter, and your oil lines to and from the turbo. How much oil do you think you are losing? If you got it changed at a shop and they didn't put the filter on right or didn't tighten the plug they are liable for the damage to your motor and a tow job. I had this happen on my semi and I lost about 30 liters of oil all over the highway because the monkey mechanic didn't tork the drain plug. That one cost volvo a $500 tow and a $26000 motor job. Good luck hope everything works out for you.

Alright guys,

Don't laugh now but the oil filler cap was missing. The dumb mechanic forgot to put on the oil cap!!

So my car was splashing around oil for the last 85 miles!

I opened the hood and we had oil all over the engine compartment. Good thing it had not started smoking. I hope it had not caused any permamenent damage. What's your take on this??

The dipstick gives me oil readings just below the top notch so I guess I have enough (is it?)

Anyways i'll make Kia Ragsdale pay for this!

Heh. Guess it coulda been worse. I'd take it back and have them clean the engine bay...and never go back again.

What? That is all, man, you must have been dogging it for it to splosh around like that, and yeah, you should have gotten a check engine light too, for a pressure sensor or something? Well, at least you know the problem now, yeah, make them pay....
