Ok, well my dad has two tubes of JB Weld in the garage. One is red and the other black. Is this the stuff I need? If so, which tube do I use and how do I apply it? I'm just dead broke and dont have the money to buy another valve cover at the moment, so I need a temporary fix.

Equal amounts of both and enough of both to do the whole job. Make sure you get the cracked area SUPER clean and dry.

u have to mix the 2 of them in equal amounts for it to harden and bond

i just wanted to know why i keep getting oil in my valve cover. im not to sure what is causing this. help me out here.

i got a new oil cap not to long ago and i just replaced my h.g. not too long ago. someone told me to check the pcv valve.

i even check my oil and it is fine. doesnt lose a drop. where in the f**k is this crap coming from and how is it getting there.if you find out what it is let me know.

most likely its the gaskets on the spark plugs....maybe your cover isnt quite tight enough, its possible its loosened a little since you had it off last...try tightening it up a bit but be careful not to crack the cover

ill try that tomorrow. now that i think of it, my cover was kinda loose cause i could not get the bolts to tighten all the way. it would seem like it gets tight and then loose again. thanx for the info. i will let you know if it works. ill try the spark plug gaskets too just to be safe.

MY COVER DOESENT TIGHTEN ALL THE WAY ANY WAY  (PLASTIC COVER) AND IF IT WAS THE SPARK PLUG WIRE GASKETS WOULDENT THIER BE OIL IN THE JACKET OF THE SPARK PLUG??? EVERY WEEK I HAVE TO CLEAN OUT OIL IN THERE.BUT I HAVE HEARD THAT ITS COMINE FOR OIL TO GET UP THIER.

thats where i think it is coming from too. i have no oil in my spark plug jacket or n e where else. just the valve cover.

thats way off to the left... cant really leak into your valve cover from there... but, its cheap and easy to check... so go ahead.

No when someone says check you PCV valve they mean to make sure its
not plugged up. The excess pressure in the crankcase this causes could cause
oil leaking out the gaskets but I really doubt this is the probelm.

sounds to me like your holes are stripped..u might think about getting soe longer bolts (about a 1/4 longer) and try those...this happened to me on a donor engine

i had the same prob...i bet its yours too. go beat on it and build boost and shit, pull over and rev the car from the throttle body and look at the inside of your valve cover around the bolts, i bet youll see oil bubbling out because its cracked. i cracked mine from repetetive loosening and tightening. i have about 3 bolt holes that are stripped and they dont leak from them

Hey

I changed my valve cover and used the old gasket because I thought it would be ok (could deffinately be the problem but not sure). Anyways I know the gasket needs to be replaced cause it's leak around the cover too BUT it leaks up in the spark plug area too. How does that happen. It didn't do it on my last one so I don't think its the oil cap gasket unless it seals different on the new cover. Any ideas because there is a crap load up there after only a short drive. Thanks.

Tell me do you use a that plastic piece that you put over your spark plug wires? and also I am pretty sure it is you oil cap that is leaking oil on top of your cover. It is pretty much the only logical reason how oil could get on top of your valve cover unless your dip stick pops out and sprays oil all over your engine but that kinda a long shot.

:talon:

Plug well seals are my guess. How much did you torque down the valve cover when you changed it?

You probably cracked it tightning it down.

I did that once before #1 plug well was full of oil. I'm surprised the car ran.
