oil leak, hard shifting

hey everyone, first post here. I recently just got a 1995 Eclipse RS, N/T. The previous owner said he recently put in a newer engine and tranny with about 60,000 miles on them. Im really having a hard time doing work on this car because I've been a 4x4 guy all my life but just recently moved to the Reno area and wanted something with better gas mileage. So I traded my lifted Cherokee for this Eclipse. I really like this car but I have been noticeing oil drops (enough to make me worry) under the car. I checked the engine oil level and it was full. Sometimes its hard to shift into first, second and reverse. Sorry if im beating a dead horse with this question but Im at a loss trying to figure out whats wrong by myself. What could cause the leaking oil and hard shifting? thanks for the help.....

what does it look like, blackish or pinkish

that sounds like gear oil not engine oil
check your tranny fluid

what side of the engine area is leaking?

Yea most def check the fill hole on the trans. and see if you can fell fluid with your finger tip.
