So I had my headgasket done by a "reputable" (crappy shop). So everything was done right. I looked at it and the radiator cap has oil on top of it and on the elbow above the thermostat circled in picture below. The oil in my coolant is brand new oil i know, its not a milky color its not burnt its fresh oil. Also this happened right around the time I had my heater core bypassed, which was done by a REAL shop. I'm going to fix this car, EVERYTHING will be fixed then I'm going to sell it so if anyone wants it PM me. It's not overheating or anything its running perfect other then the oil thing.

im sorry but do you want a solution to the problem, or sell it because that is supposed to be in the classified section. I would immediately drain all of the "coolant/oil." Get all new coolant hoses, and then put actual coolant 50/50 in it and it should be all right.

ALLLLL hoses are brand spanking new, I'm looking to fix it and THEN sell it...this thread is help fix...I obviously know to drain the mix, that's not what I need help with...Why it's doing this is what i need to know.

Is there a lot of oil did you change it yet, maybe some got in when they did the head gasket or when the pulled the head. Maybe it needs to be flush a couple times. And it will go away.

it usually does look like milk but tonight it looked like coca-cola™ in the overflow. yes ON my radiator cap. I have a pressure release cap, and i did hear it hissing so I'm going to change it out tomorrow. That can't be why the coolant mixed, again it didn't overheat at all.

if you do have oil in your coolant , your oil cooler could be leaking some people over look that.

Stock oil cooler, its water cooled and runs through the oil filter housing, if you over tighten the oil filter those fins in there break which causes the oil/water to mix.

That might be the problem.

All these posts surprised no one has mentioned that yet

but from what the OP seems to be saying by (on) the rad cap and the pics it looks like just an oil leak.

Come to think of it though they tightened that oil filter bolt over 3 weeks ago and this oil thing just started happening, in fact they put a half a gallon of new coolant in it a few days ago when they bypassed the heater core.

What I'm saying is that I think the radiator cap is effed up. it hissed a little, held pressure for a while but lost the pressure pretty quickly after the car was off....That doesn't explain the FRESH oil in the overflow though...I wish i could take a picture.
