Oil in coolant. Help.

ok i overheated my car, Rad. hose was slit, So i got that fixed, put water in rad. and it looks like water is coming out of another hose, But their is oil in my coolant, but on the dip stick it isn't milky, When i first started it after sitting all night, It smoked a little out the exhaust, but I drove it home and it wasn't smoking out of the exhaust then. ?

Yes indeedy. Overheating the car high enough can blow the HG. Hopefully you didn't drive it long enough to warp the head...

not unless your colorblind and mistakenly dumped 5 qts of oil into your coolant. if thats out of the picture, then headgasket.

There certainly are other ways; however, three people so far have agreed that it is probably your head gasket. If you are particularly unlucky and drove the car long and hard while it was overheating, you could have warped the head. There are other ways that oil and coolant can mix, obviously, but judging from the facts I would say there is an 80% chance it is a HG, a 20% chance it could be something else . This might be something for a mechanic if you're not comfortable with it....

Ok so I thought what the hell and fixed the hoses, etc., Started it up, runs fine, doesn't smoke, temp stays right in the middle, doesn't miss.


I could be a slight slight hg leak possibly.










Btw. the turbo is brand new from the factory.

Whens the last time the coolant was changed? Old coolant gets rusty colored sometimes. Flush and refill and see if it gets muddy looking again. Or you could do a compression test.

cleaned out the rad. most of the coolant hose, its circulating good, its not getting all gunky, and its not getting real oily looking.
