Oil in a wiring harness

my buddies GS has some kind of liquid that's somehow getting inside the wiring harness? I think that's it. and it looks like oil.

help. I was completely stumped.
it's a 98 eclipse gs

I lack knowledge on the situation, as I only looked at it for about 5 mins. but it was the plug in that was on the top of the engine center block, to the left side (if your in the drivers seat) next to the battery on the 420a engine.
