oil gauge not working?

It's a yellow wire connecting from a yellow/red (maybe the one you found in your other post since it is from the alt wire harness) that goes to a bell shaped sensor on the oil filter housing. I just ran across this and I'm glad I did but it was the blue wire coming from alt wire harness but, I'm confused where the yellow wire goes???

For oil pressure gauge the 1g's have a blue wire (2g's have a yellow going into a yellow/red).
The other yellow wire you're refering to goes to the oil pressure switch (idiot light sender) which operates the oil idiot light on dash. On a 2g this is yellow for NT or yellow/black from a yellow for turbo.

thank you 1 more thing I hope you can help me with, from that same wire harness there's a thick black wire like a sparkplug wire, would you happen to know what that wire is for??? I don't know cause it was off when I received the car

Thick black wire? I don't see anything like that in my manual. What kind of connector is on it (and #pins) and how much thicker?
Back on the yellow wire for 1g: I found another one on that harness which goes to the power steering oil pressure switch.

the wire is 3X thicker than the yellow wire and it has a small L shaped metal cap on the end of it.

The small L shaped metal cap on the end is what is on the end of the Power Steering (PS) pressure switch wire (to PS unit). It should be a flexible yellow wire inside a black protective casing. Are you mistaking the casing for a black wire? Does it look like it will reach the PS unit? Anyway if you're really stumped you could disconnect the battery, and then the ECU connectors and check continuity between that wire and the ECU pins to see if it goes there and on which pin (the PS pressure switch goes to ECU pin 5 on a 1g NT).
