I have searched through numerous threads about oil leaks in the filter area but I can't seem to find anything similar to my issue.

I have a leak that appears to be coming from the seal between the oil filter and housing. I have already replaced the housing gasket and I installed a new oil pressure sending unit not too long ago so I am confident that neither of these is leaking. The leak only seems to happen when I put a high load on the car...racing, high boost, high rpm. So I am thinking it is due to higher oil pressure. The leak appears to be like a mist orignating from the oil filter.

I am using an OEM mitsu filter torqued to spec and the oil filter housing is a front facing one on my 6 bolt motor installed by showdown motorsports. Any ideas? Any other filters that would seat better?

Had the same problem with the OEM filter was the gasket on the filter itself was designed to let go at a certain oil pressure to keep the pump from blowing. Have been using FRAM and Motocraft and never had the issue since.

Thanks, yea I thought maybe it was the pan but I ruled that out too. I just installed a new pan and all new gaskets and wiped down everything so I will drive her for one day and take a look. But I am fairly confident it is coming from the gasket around the oil filter and only at high RPM and its a fine spray pattern...maybe consider using a thinner oil?

I'm running M1 10w-30 but maybe some 5w-20?

I have a front facing oil filter housing...like the one JNZ sells. I am not sure if there is an oil cooler or how it is setup on this housing. Also, if it was the front main then wouldnt there be oil on the t-belt and inside the lower timing cover? Because mine is clean.
