I was wondering if I remove my oil filter cooler lines, how much of a difference will it make? In my opinion it doesn't do much to help with the cooling of the oil, but I guess every little bit helps.

Not sure what you are trying to do.

However I think an air cooler is better the the stock set up with engine coolant going through.

I am going to switch to an aftermarket cool soon, probably in a week or so. But in the meantime my lines are leaking.

If they arent leaking, i would just leave them in place.

They have given me trouble since I got that car. I've put new rubber hoses, better clamps and the tubing is not crushed on the ends. And the clamps are tight. It'll stop for awhile, then start leaking again.

There is a company that makes forward facing oil filter housings (cant remember what their name is). They say the factory oil cooler isnt necessary for daily driving.

Yeah, it's FFWD. I forgot about those. So that means that the oil filter housing cooler isn't nessecary. Thanks for the reminder. Unhooked it is.

Using hose clamps will not fix your leaking situation, you need the stock hoses or convert to AN, hose clamps will not hold that much of psi running on the lines.
Just change to AN feedings or find the fittings from a stock set up and take it to any hydraulic shop to make some custom lines and you will not have that leaking problem again.

I don't buy that.
I can buy not needing it for drag racing since you are only doing short runs.
As a daily though your talking about more time driving, traffic, stop and go, etc.

The original poster isn't talking about oil cooler hoses, he is talking about the rubber coolant hoses that go to the oil cooler on the oil filter housing.

Yeah, I didn't think about that. But I think I'll be ok till this weekend. The speed limit doesn't go above 45 on my way to work and neither do I unless I'm feeling squirrelly. Hahaha! I can't just keep putting water in it because it actually froze here last night and I don't wanna buy a new block. So I'm sure it will be ok till I switch to an air cooled cooler.
